Important Announcement – 23 March 2020

Please note the following statement issued by our charity partners and event organisers:

It is with a heavy heart that we must inform everyone that earlier today we took the decision to cancel this years Poole Festival of Running.

It became clear this week that the COVID-19 pandemic would continue to disrupt events well into June. We had put a plan in place to move the event to a date later in the year. The only weekend we could have rescheduled to would have placed Poole Festival of Running on the same weekend as another large local running event in the Purbecks.
This evening we thought that when we do come through this pandemic, small businesses in rural towns would need as much support as possible and that in the spirit of our awesome running community we could not move PFoR to clash with another local event but to cancel for 2020.

The plus side of this is that we can get started in putting together an even better Poole Festival of Running on the weekend of 5th & 6th June 2021.
We will be offering full refunds to all competitors but also offer the chance to defer into PFoR 2021. We will get instructions on refunds and deferrals out to you in the next 7 days. Please remember we are all volunteers and are working as hard as we can in very testing times for all to get this sorted out. Please bare with us, we will let you all know the process.
We thank all of you for your support of our event, we wish you all well over the next few months, stay safe and we will see you all in 2021.

The Garden Marathon Challenge

Each year Poole Festival of Running raises about £12000 for Poole Hospital Charity, knowing the impact that cancelling this will have, our friends from Poole Festival of Running have mobilised the local running community to take on The Garden Marathon Challenge!

The virtual event took place in June and to date has raised over £13,000 benefiting our Poole Hospital Heroes during the Covid-19 pandemic and cancer services at Poole Hospital.
