It’s getting hot in here, so take off all your….socks!
This year we are bringing you our first ever, life changing, Firewalk event.
28th April, 7pm, Longfleet Primary School.
Once you’ve overcome your fears and made it across the firebed there‘s no telling what else you can achieve. We won’t leave you to face it alone – before the walking starts you’ll receive full training to ensure that you are motivated and can walk across the 3-4m firebed safely.
Best of all, your family and friends are welcome to come along for free to support you and enjoy an evening of fun, music, pizza and more!
We’d love you to raise money for Poole Hospital so we’ll refund tickets for everyone who raises over £100 in sponsorship… yippeee!
Do I actually walk on a flaming fire? No, you walk on the fire bed itself; the red-hot glowing embers of the wood. The fire will have been burning for approximately 2 hours so by the time you come out of the training seminar flames maybe seen on the wood to each side of the fire lane but not on the part you will be invited to walk down. You will NOT walk on the actual flames.
How long is the fire? 3-4 meters long and 1 meter wide. It should take 4-5 strides to cross.
Should I harden or soften the skin on my feet? No, the skin on your feet is already the hardest on the body and does not require treating prior to a Fire Walk. If you do apply any lotions within 5 days of the event you will not be allowed to walk on the fire! (Dry nail varnish on your toe nails is completely fine though!).
What’s the best thing to wear on the night? Comfy and casual is always the best. All you need to do is roll up the bottom of your trousers or dress to keep them from getting dirty. Obviously tights/ stockings/ socks will need to be removed before the fire walk itself. We advise that you bring along some wet wipes and/or an old towel as your feet will be very sooty from walking on the fire bed and your socks will get filthy.
Can I have a drink to calm my nerves? Nope! You will not be permitted to participate if you have consumed alcohol (or recreational drugs for that matter), so please don’t ruin it for yourself. Our bar will be up and running so you could always ask a friend to get a drink in ready for you.
Is there an age limit? Participants must be aged 16 or over. There’s no upper age limit as long as youi are able to walk about 6 steps unaided
